ETSY VIDEO CHECKLIST
Etsy listing video requirements
Length, file size, format, resolution and sound: check the essentials before adding a video to your product listing.
THE QUICK ANSWER
Etsy video length, size and format at a glance
Based on Etsy’s official listing-video guidance, checked October 15, 2026. Etsy can update these requirements.
| Requirement | Etsy guidance | Practical check |
|---|---|---|
| Video length | 3–15 seconds | Check the exported file’s duration, including any opening or closing frames. |
| Maximum file size | 100 MB | Check the final video file, rather than the size of its source photos. |
| Accepted formats | MP4, MOV, FLV, AAC, AVI, 3GP, MPEG | Choose MP4 when exporting from an editor that offers it. |
| Resolution | Minimum 500px; at least 1080px is ideal | Use sharp source photos and inspect the exported preview. |
| Aspect ratio | 2:1 or 1:2 in Etsy’s guidance; 1:1 square option | You can also create a square (1:1) video in our editor. Preview the result in your Etsy listing. |
| Sound | Audio is removed after upload | Communicate the product details visually. |
| Videos per listing | Up to 2 | Check the listing’s existing videos before adding another. |
A square (1:1) video is also an option in our editor. Etsy’s linked guidance specifically lists “2:1 or 1:2”; preview your chosen framing in the listing before saving.
Before you upload: a practical checklist
The requirements above come from Etsy. The checks below are our editing recommendations to help you prepare a clear product video.
- Play the exported file from beginning to end. Look for blank frames, abrupt cuts and a missing ending.
- Watch it muted. A buyer should understand the product without narration or music.
- Inspect the framing. Keep the product and important details away from the edges.
- Keep any text easy to read. Give viewers enough time to understand it on a small screen.
- Use accurate product images. Show the actual item or clearly explain what a digital purchase includes.
- Review the listing after adding the video. Wait for processing, check the result and save your listing changes.
What if your Etsy video will not upload?
Start with the file you are actually uploading. Check its duration, file size and format against the table. If you changed export settings, make sure you selected the new export rather than an older copy.
If the listing already has two videos, decide whether you want to replace one. If the file meets the requirements but still fails, try uploading again after checking your connection. For continuing upload problems, use Etsy Help; for problems creating or publishing through our extension, contact our support.
Renaming a file from another extension to .mp4 does not convert the video. Export or convert it using a video editor instead.
How to add the finished video to Etsy
On Etsy.com, open Shop Manager → Listings, select your listing and go to Photo and video. Upload the video there. In the Etsy Seller app, open the listing and use the add-video option in its media section. See Etsy’s instructions for the complete steps.
With Listings Video Generator in desktop Chrome, you can create a video from listing photos or local files and add the rendered result to the open listing. Our step-by-step Etsy listing video tutorial shows the actual workflow.

Common questions about Etsy video requirements
How long can an Etsy listing video be?
Etsy specifies 3–15 seconds. Our recommendation is to choose a few useful views and make each one easy to understand, rather than filling the available time with repetitive images.
Does an Etsy listing video need music?
No. Uploaded videos play without audio. Use the picture sequence to explain the product.
Is MP4 the only supported format?
No. Etsy lists several formats in the table above. MP4 is a practical export choice, but the file still needs to satisfy the other requirements.
Can I make a listing video from product photos?
Yes. Our extension turns selected photos and clips into a short video. See the photo-to-video tutorial for a demonstration using framed artwork.
